Chemical formula:

     The symbolic representation of a chemical compound is known as a chemical formula.

Example: sodium chloride   (NaCl)

The chemical formula has two types:

1. Molecular formula
2. Empirical formula

Molecular formula 
                 The formula which gives the actual whole number of atoms present in any compound is known as the molecular formula.












  Empirical formula
                  The formula gives the simplest whole-number ratio of atoms present in a compound.
